Commercial Setting

A prominent UK Retailer with a presence in Europe, North America and the Far East .  It’s highly respected consumer lending operation provides personal finance facilities.  The parent group determined that in the face of rising competitions credit card operations need to deliver a greater contribution across all channels.  They allocated a £4.5M budget and 50 staff  to the initiative.

Scope

A number of systems suppliers had been engaged to implement a Credit Card Programme across all trading channels. Given tight commercial deadlines and the number of parties involved, it was imperative that the programme met the business case and operational expectations with the minimum of fuss between this multi-party challenge.    The programme encompassed multiple projects spanning the following aspects of the business:

  • IT systems & infrastructure
  • Stores Operations & Point of Sale
  • Mail Order
  • e-Business
  • Finance
  • Merchant Service VAT
  • Marketing & PR.

 Our Intervention

We were retained to:

  • Lead and support the programme throughout it’s lifecycle.
  • Drive and mentor a range of Project managers to deliver simultaneous projects covering credit card activities across the business.
  • Manage the stakeholder relationships, particularly between Business Sponsors IT & Partners
  • Manage 3rd party suppliers, software houses and working closely with several internationally renown credit card providers.

 Outcomes

  • We sensed of high degree of urgency and injected focus, pace and energy into the programme.
  • We drove the programme through effective communications, relationship management, risks, issues & change management.
  • We identified critical budget decisions and ensured that there was no adverse impact to the original delivery criteria.
  • We provided partnership with the Business Sponsors and 3rd parties.
  • We deployed the clients internal hybrid methodology.
  • Delivered the programme on time and within a lowered budget.
