Commercial Setting

A major league insurer just embarked on massive re-engineering programme.  The client’s aim was to radically it’s total cost base of £60m p.a. and thereby maintain and enhance its position in a fiercely competitive market.

Scope

In-house project teams had started compartmentalised reviews leading to an inconsistent the business case.  A raft of projects were being launched without any semblance of alignment across the organisation.  Our remit was to lead the programme.  Our current state assessment (CSA) of its operations covered areas such as:

  • Front and back office processes
  • Regulatory reporting requirement
  • Premises strategy
  • IT infrastructure renewal.
  • Procurement and supply chain review

 Outcomes

  • immediately identified targets savings of £5m per annum for the re-engineering initiative.
  • defined practical project and programme framework
  • established governance arrangements.
  • aligned and prioritised the project portfolio to ensure a viable business case.
  • successfully enabled the merger of two fund management teams into a single unit.
